Australians Jake Birtwhistle and Ashleigh Gentle have finished second in their respective World Triathlon Series races in Hamburg.
In the men's event, Birtwhistle produced a brilliant fightback to snatch back-to-back silver medals.
The 22-year-old had a terrific sprint finish to surge past Spain's five-time world champion Javier Gomez and New Zealand's Ryan Sissons in the closing stages to claim his second silver in two years.
Birtwhistle looked like his race was over when he dropped back to fifth after sitting in second place in the early stages of a five kilometre run dominated by eventual winner, world champion Mario Mola of Spain.
In the women's race, Rio Olympian Gentle enjoyed the fastest run time of the day to finish behind Bermuda's Commonwealth Games favourite Flora Duffy.
Gentle will be joined by training partner Charlotte McShane on the Australian Commonwealth Games Team.
McShane hung on for an eighth-place finish to fullfil the Triathlon Australia automatic selection nomination with a top-10 finish.
Gentle had already earned her automatic nomination with her second place finish in the WTS Gold Coast race in April.
