Showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday brought good general rain to Victoria.
Even parts of drought-affected western Victoria received a few millimetres of rain as a low pressure trough crossed the state, bringing showers to most areas with heavier falls in the north associated with thunderstorms.
"The highest falls were up in the northeast of the state. Around Porepunkah, near Bright, they received 42mm," Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Dean Stewart said.
Nearby, 42mm also fell at Mount Hotham, Bright had 35mm and Harrietville received 34mm.
Albury had 12.8mm, but 12.2mm fell in 36 minutes as a severe thunderstorm passed through the region mid-afternoon, while Rutherglen had 20mm.
Parts of the Wimmera, Mallee and Northern Country also had good rain.
Totals included 21mm at Hopetoun, 15mm at Bendigo and Warracknabeal, 14mm at Werrimull, 14mm at Yanac and Navarre, but only 7mm at Swan Hill and Horsham.
"I think all places ended up with something. We predicted 5mm to 15mm across the northern plains, and that's pretty much what happened," Mr Stewart said.
"A few places like Hopetoun had a bit more with storm activity that went through."
Totals were generally lower in southern Victoria, with just 2.4mm in Melbourne.
