The Sydney Swans player reached out for help from the public and Victorian police to relocate his belongings on Twitter.
Australia’s Twitter community responded with support for Mr Goodes, including local media the Ballarat Courier.
A Swans spokesperson told media that the burglary at the home of his mother, Lisa Sansbury, was likely random.
It is not clear what memorabilia has been taken.
Goodes has won the Brownlow Medal twice after playing in the 2005 and 2012 premiership sides. He is one of just 14 AFL players to win the prestitious AFL award more than once.
Goodes was named Australian of the Year in 2014 for his contribution to the Go Foundation, which aims to improve education of Indigenous Australian children, and his work to counter racism.
