If Father Time is ticking for Adam Goodes, he clearly isn't listening that closely.
The 34-year-old Sydney AFL star wants more game time and extra minutes in the midfield and is in no hurry to decide whether he will back up for a 17th season.
Enjoying his football more than ever, Goodes will decide at the end of the season whether he wants to continue the honours-packed career he began in 1999.
After being sidelined for 10 months with a serious knee injury, Goodes hasn't tasted defeat since returning to the side, playing in nine of Sydney's 10-match winning streak.
Goodes will make a record 341st appearance for an indigenous player when he plays against West Coast in Perth on Sunday.
With Kurt Tippett and Lance Franklin taking most of the minutes in the key forward spots, Goodes has mostly floated around the forward this season and spent little time on the ball.
"I think I can still improve my match fitness. I think I've played about 90 to 100 minutes a game," Goodes said.
"I'd like to increase that going forward, no doubt.
"I'd like to play a little bit more in the midfield as well, but our midfield is a really tough midfield to break into, which is fantastic, and that's another challenge for me."
Provided he remains fit and in form into the Swans' finals campaign, Goodes is set to become just the 14th player to reach the 350-game mark.
He never doubted he would return from the long-term injury that cut across last season and the 2014 campaign.
"I just didn't know how good I would be or what level I'd get back," Goodes said.
"The desire and hunger was still there.
"There are some things I can't do out there, but I'm not going to tell everyone what they are.
"But I'm still able to keep my speed, I can still put pressure on that forward line, I can still kick goals, so I'm just enjoying being out there and playing that role."
