Google appeals 2.4b-euro EU fine

Google is reportedly appealing against a 2.42-billion-euro fine issued by the European Commission.

Google has appealed a 2.42 billion-euro ($A3.61 billion-euro) fine issued by the European Commission, a European Court of Justice source says.

The commission slapped Google with the record fine in June for abusing its dominance as a search engine because it gave illegal advantage to its own shopping service.

The court only confirmed the appeal but did not provide additional details.
