Govt ignoring revenue issues:Di Natale

Greens Leader Richard Di Nalate says the government must stop ignoring the revenue issue if it wants to balance the budget.

Greens Leader Richard Di Natale may have helped the federal government get its pensions changes through parliament, but it doesn't mean he backs its timeframe of getting back to surplus in 2019/20.

While a balanced budget should be the aim, he says, the circumstances from year to year need to be considered to determine "what levers you pull".

"You can't balance the budget with one arm tied behind your back and that's what the government is doing because it ignores the issue of revenue," he told Sky News on Sunday, adding that superannuation tax concessions and negative gearing should be looked at.
