Govt progresses plan to improve aged care

A new quality framework for aged care services is closer to being, with legislation to establish it passing the lower house of federal parliament.

The Turnbull government expects a new quality framework will improve aged care services across Australia.

Legislation to establish the framework, first announced in 2015, passed the lower house on Wednesday night.

Aged Care Minister Ken Wyatt says it is designed to promote high quality services that meet community needs and preferences.
