Govt to fund $1.3 billion in cancer drugs

The federal government has announced $1.3 billion to fund new generation cancer drugs under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

The federal government will fund $1.3 billion worth of new generation cancer drugs.

Health Minister Sussan Ley on Saturday announced the four-year funding for the drugs passed for listing by the pharmaceutical benefits advisory committee.

Without government funding the drugs would be out of reach for the average Australian, she told reporters in Brisbane.
