The federal government has set up a taskforce to look at the unusually high insurance premiums paid by residents and businesses in northern Australia.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott said in Cairns on Friday the government would release the northern Australia white paper in June, which will include in it a plan to upgrade the Hann Highway.
He also released an audit of infrastructure across the country's north.
