Govt warns of green group 'sabotage'

Trade Minister Andrew Robb warns "legal sabotage" by environmentalists will cause Australia to miss out on billions of dollars of investment.

Trade Minister Andrew Robb has warned of "legal sabotage" by green groups amid reports of multiple legal challenges against the Carmichael mine.

The Australian reports on Saturday that the $16 billion Queensland coal mine is likely to be locked in litigation until at least 2017 with environmentalists launching several legal challenges against the mine.

"At a time when the world is awash with cash, but with very nervous investors looking for safe havens, this legal sabotage is going to deter billions of dollars of investment," Mr Robb told the newspaper on Saturday.
