Star South Sydney youngster Aaron Gray has designs on sticking with the NRL club long term after on Monday re-signing with the Rabbitohs until the end of 2017.

The NSW Under-20s and Under-18s representative has made a considerable impression in the NRL this year and his playing future had been the subject of continued speculation since his debut in round eight against Canberra.

Gray had been linked to a move to Melbourne, who are on the lookout for outside backs, but the 21-year-old confirmed he has dedicated his future, for the next two NRL seasons at least, to Redfern.

"I have re-signed with Souths for a couple more years so that is all sorted," Gray said.

"I have been a local junior here my whole life and it is good to stay here for a few more years and hopefully a few more years after that."

Gray has scored seven tries in his first 11 NRL appearances, including five in his first four games to emerge as a contender for rookie of the year.
