They've combined for just on a quarter of the goals in Greater Western Sydney's history, now good mates Jeremy Cameron and Devon Smith will celebrate their 100th AFL games together.

Coming into this season they were the two leading goalkickers in Giants history, with Cameron topping the scoring chart in each of the club's first five seasons.

Key forward Cameron has now notched 256 goals, putting him well clear of Toby Greene (98), who this season has edged ahead of Smith (93).

The fishing buddies did much of the grunt work up forward through the Giants first three seasons in which the fledgling club won just nine games.

Now they have plenty of support in what has developed into one of the AFL's deepest, most versatile and potent forward lines.

At Etihad Stadium on Friday, Cameron and small forward Smith join Callan Ward, Greene and Tom Scully as GWS 100-gamers.

"It's a great feat for those two boys to come through together and it's quite unique, they are very close friends," Giants' coach Leon Cameron said.

"Their loyalty and their willingness to stick through the hard times when we were getting belted in those first couple of years is testament to their character.

"It's a great opportunity for those guys to not only step up to the plate and play well in their 100th game, but the other 20 players to acknowledge that around them on Friday."

Jeremy Cameron is signed up until 2020 and Smith comes off contract this year, but recently said he hoped to get a new deal done by mid-season.

The GWS coach felt consistently making finals would be an appropriate reward for the two mates after sticking with the club through the tough times.

He said Smith and Cameron were part of the backbone of the club made up of several foundation players, who joined GWS as teenagers.

"When they become the backbone, they have a big say in where you want to head," Leon Cameron said.

"We feel as though those two boys have had a big say in terms of us climbing up the ladder and playing finals footy last year and our aim is to play finals footy again this year.

"Hopefully that reward to play finals footy can pay those guys back for their loyalty early in the piece when probably things weren't going as well."
