Greece has temporarily closed its banks and imposed controls to limit bank withdrawals.

The banks won't open until July 7 - two days after a referendum on bailout proposals - and ATM withdrawals will be limited to 60 euros a day.

The emergency measures were agreed to at a cabinet meeting on Sunday.

The meeting was called after the Greek government failed to secure an extension for bailout funding beyond Tuesday.

Peggy Giakoumelos reports.
