Green quits as Cycling Australia CEO

Cycling Australia board member Steven Drake will take over as CEO after Nick Green resigned - the second major personnel change at CA in the past 12 months.

Cycling Australia chief executive Nick Green has resigned, with board member Steven Drake to take over immediately.

The Oarsome Foursome rowing great announced is leaving after more than three years in the role and says he's moving to a job in the private sector.

Green will stay for a short period as Drake takes over, CA says.

Green's departure is the second major change of personnel at CA in the past 12 months.

Simon Jones took over as high performance manager a year ago after the sport's disastrous Rio Olympics campaign.

Green took the role as CA was still reeling from a financial crisis and a major restructure.

"I am extremely proud of the progress and achievements during my time as CEO and I am pleased that Steve will inherit a strong national federation," Green said in a statement.

"I have seen enormous and positive change over the past three years. It is now timely for me to take on a new professional challenge."

CA chairman Steve Bracks praised Green for his leadership, particularly given the financial mess he inherited.

"I am delighted that CA is back in a sound position and ready to grow to its next phase," Bracks said.
