Nine days after being fined $2500 but escaping conviction having pleaded guilty to unlawful assault for his role in a pub brawl, emerging AFL midfielder Toby Greene has re-signed with Greater Western Sydney for three years.

Greene had previously been suspended by the Giants for five games and fined $5000 - the maximum sanction allowed under the rules agreed to by the AFL Players Association and the clubs - after initially failing to notify the club of the incident and drinking while injured.

The attack by Greene and a school friend on a bouncer occurred at Zagames Hotel in the Melbourne suburb of Caulfield in May.

The new contract will keep Greene at GWS until at least the end of the 2018 season.

The 21-year-old has played 53 games for the Giants since he was selected as pick No.11 at the 2011 draft.

"I definitely want to be around here while we're winning and if we can get our core group of boys to sign, I think we all know we're going somewhere and everyone is pretty keen to stay around," Greene said in a statement.

The Giants also announced on Wednesday the re-signing of 21-year-old defender Tim Golds until the end of the 2016 season.

The latest deals at the Giants follow the re-signings of Adam Tomlinson, Jon Patton, Nick Haynes, Josh Kelly, Adam Kennedy, Rory Lobb, James Stewart, Andrew Phillips, Cameron McCarthy, Tom Downie and Jake Barrett.
