Labor leader Bill Shorten has slammed the Greens, describing their performance over the past three years as pretty naughty.

In an interview with The Weekend Australian, Greens MP Adam Bandt accused Labor and the Liberals of working on a preference deal to keep the Greens from winning inner-city seats.

"If the Greens are unhappy, perhaps they should buy a mirror and look into that to see what the real problem is," Mr Shorten said when asked about the report.

He said the party had voted with the government not to allow transparency in the financial reporting of large companies, and backed the coalition's Senate voting changes.

"The Greens have been pretty naughty in the last three years."

He wouldn't directly comment on preference negotiations, saying it was a matter for party headquarters.

Mr Bandt, the Greens' only lower house MP, told The Australian the Liberals would preference Labor in Batman and Wills in Victoria, and Grayndler and Sydney in NSW, in return for Labor providing preferences in the Liberal-held Adelaide seats of Mayo, Sturt and Hindmarsh.
