Tony Abbott says he's been verballed over his pre-election promise not to do any deals with the Greens.

Labor leader Bill Shorten asked the prime minister in parliament on Wednesday why voters should trust him after doing a "dirty deal" with the Greens on cutting pensions.

Mr Abbott said his promise related to forming minority government and not policy or legislation.
