Australian Greens senator Lee Rhiannon wants the minor party to involve members on future leadership elections.

Senator Rhiannon said she raised her issues with the ballot process and the lack of time during Wednesday's swift leadership change from Christine Milne to Richard Di Natale.

"It's not that anybody made it unfair ... I think we learnt some lessons today," she told Sky News, urging the party to rethink its position and involve members more.
