A greyhound trainer has faced a Queensland court following the discovery of more than 50 dog carcasses dumped in bushland.

The licensed trainer, a 64-year-old woman, and a man, 71, appeared before the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Friday charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

The woman was also charged with obstructing police.

They have been granted bail to appear in the same court on May 1.

The charges were laid after a joint police and RSPCA taskforce searched a Bundaberg home following the discovery of 55 greyhound carcasses with bullet wounds in bushland at Coonarr.

Shells from a .22 calibre firearm were also found at the mass grave, which was speculated to be a dumping ground for "wasted" greyhound industry dogs.

The taskforce is investigating Queensland's greyhound industry for live baiting after the controversial practice was exposed on ABC TV's Four Corners program.

It has broadened its focus to include other alleged instances of animal abuse.
