Griffith, Hick fill in as Aust ODI coaches

Former Sheffield Shield bowler Adam Griffith and ex-English batsman Graeme Hick will assist Justin Langer's coaching next month in the West Indies.

Temporary Australian coach Justin Langer will take his Western Australian bowling adviser Adam Griffith with him for June's one-day tri-series in the West Indies.

Griffith, who took 169 wickets in 50 first-class matches for Tasmania from 2002-11, will temporarily fill the role of former bowling coach Craig McDermott who has stepped down after the World Twenty20 in India.

The series against the West Indies and South Africa is being used as an eye to the future for Cricket Australia, with Langer standing in for regular coach Darren Lehmann.

"West Australia have some talented young fast bowlers that have developed under Adam's watch," Lehmann said.

"It's great to be able to offer him the chance to work with the Australian side under Justin Langer."

Former English Test batsman Graeme Hick, who is working at the centre of excellence in Brisbane, will also join the pair as an assistant coach.
