Sam Groth has moved into the second round of the Wimbledon lead-up event in Nottingham after completing a straight-sets win in his match held over from Monday.

Groth wrapped up the clash with German qualifier Mischa Zverev 7-6 (7-1) 7-6 (7-3), needing just one service game and a tiebreaker to get the job done on Tuesday.

Rain had forced Groth to pack up for the night when down 5-6 in the second set on Monday with games on serve.

He had blown a chance to close out the match on his own serve but there were no such dramas when the clash resumed.

Enjoying a career-high ranking after winning seven of his eight matches so far on English grass over the northern summer, Groth has booked a second-round meeting with Portugal's 14th seed Joao Sousa.

The match will be played on Tuesday afternoon.
