Australian swimmer Madeline Groves has backed up her 200m butterfly silver medal at the Rio Olympics with gold in the same event at the World Cup short course meet in Qatar.
Groves tied for first with Hungarian superstar Katinka Hosszu, who won three gold medals in Rio, in a time of 2.03.34 on day two of the Doha meet.
It was a successful meet for the 21-year-old Queenslander.
She also claimed bronze in the 50m butterfly and 100m freestyle to go with two minor medals on the opening day.
Also on day two, Australian Bobby Hurley won gold in the men's backstroke 200m, beating Colombian Omar Pinzon by 0.86 seconds, to go with his victory in the 100m on day one.
"The competition has been tough here but it's been good to race as all the top swimmers are here and I've enjoyed the experience" Hurley said.
"The crowds have been good. I've really enjoyed it especially the atmosphere."
Tessa Wallace was third Australian to reach the podium on Sunday, claiming bronze in the women's 400m medley.
