Grundy commits to 'Pies in AFL

Young Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy has committed to the club, while media reports say team-mate Ben Reid has done the same.

Collingwood have re-signed young ruckman Brodie Grundy on a four-year AFL deal.

They are also on the verge of announcing a multi-year contract for key position player Ben Reid, according to media reports.

Grundy is 19 and has only played eight senior games, but he is already Collingwood's No.1 ruckman.

He earned a Rising Star nomination last season and is one of the Magpies' most important emerging players.

"Brodie is part of the next generation of young talent whose progress has provided a window on an exciting future for the club," Collingwood football director Rodney Eade said in a statement.

The new deal commits Grundy to Collingwood until the end of the 2017 season.

He said it was a big decision that involved his management and family.

I knew I wanted to stay at Collingwood and play my football here - I didn't want that dragging out throughout the year," he said.

Reid and key forward Jesse White missed last Friday night's 70-point thrashing from Fremantle.

But they trained on Wednesday and Eade told the AFL website they are on track for the round-two clash against Sydney on March 29.
