Guide dog owners are being discriminated against by Sydney's restaurants and cafes, new research shows.
Each week a blind or vision-impaired person with a guide dog is refused entry at cafes and restaurants in NSW, the research says.
An education campaign will also be launched with the study, commissioned by Guide Dogs NSW, in Sydney on Wednesday, which is International Guide Dog Day.
The campaign aims to remind the community of the rights of those who rely on guide dogs.
Qld to cut guide dog red tape
Meanwhile, Deputy Premier Jackie Trad said the state government will introduce new laws to cut red tape around the permit process for guide dogs in Queensland.
Ms Trad, who made the announcement at a guide dog graduation ceremony in Brisbane's north on Wednesday, said people would no longer have to prove their disability every time they renewed their guide dog permit, amongst other changes.
"We're talking about small changes that will have a big impact," Ms Trad said.
