Australian Diamonds and NSW Swifts midcourter Paige Hadley has had her Commonwealth Games netball ambitions dashed after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
The 21-year-old will miss the remainder of the 2014 trans-Tasman season and Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after suffering the injury at Swifts training on Thursday night.
The reigning Australian under-21 player of the year made her international debut with the Diamonds in October's Test Series against the Malawi Queens.
"I feel for Paige in these circumstances. It's a tough setback for any player, particularly ahead of such a big year with the ANZ Championship and Commonwealth Games," said Diamonds coach Lisa Alexander.
"Paige has made significant strides over the last 12 months, representing Australia at last year's World Youth Netball Championships before going on to make her international debut with the Diamonds.

"Paige will be ably supported by the NSW Swifts and Australian Diamonds medical teams to ensure a full recovery."
Hadley will undergo surgery on her left knee next Friday.
Alexander will name her Australian squad on April 15 for the 2014 Glasgow Games.
