Happy Iranians reportedly freed on bail

Six young people arrested in Iran for posting a video online of them dancing to Pharrell Williams' hit song Happy have been released on bail.

Six young Iranians who were arrested for posting a video on YouTube of themselves dancing to American singer Pharrell Williams' hit song Happy have been released on bail, reports say.

One of them, fashion photographer Reihane Taravati, posted a photo on Instagram with the message "Hi I'm back."

She also thanked Williams and "everyone who cared about us" after Twitter users had campaigned for their release with the hashtag #freehappyiranians.

The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran said the other dancers had also been released.

It tweeted: "All people who made the "happy" video released today, except the director of video, a source close to the families said."

The clip showed three men and three unveiled women imitating Williams' music video for the song by dancing on streets and rooftops in Tehran.

Authorities accused the six of committing an immoral act, Iran's ISNA news agency reported.

Iran's Islamic law requires women to wear a veil while in public.

In addition, Western pop music, men and women dancing together and YouTube access are also forbidden.

"It is beyond sad that these kids were arrested for trying to spread happiness," Williams wrote on Facebook.
