After migrating to Australia from Sri Lanka in 1995, Sydney solicitor Nalika Padmasena soon became involved helping other migrants - especially women who were victims of domestic violence.

Now, in recognition of her work, she's received the prestigious Stepan Kerkyasharian Harmony Award at a dinner in Sydney hosted by the New South Wales Premier, Mike Baird.

Nalika Pademesena is currently working as a solicitor with a service providing aged-care rights.
