The full impact of Australia's helter-skelter cricket schedule in February is starting to become clearer, with former Test players Ryan Harris and Brad Haddin signed up as assistant coaches for an ODI tour of New Zealand.
Harris will serve as bowling coach for the three-match series, which starts on January 30 and runs until February 5, while Haddin will help the squad work on their fielding.
Regular batting coach Graeme Hick and bowling coach David Saker will miss the trip, instead heading to India for the four-Test series that starts on February 23 in Pune.
It is unclear whether the likes of Steve Smith and David Warner will be available for the entire Chappell-Hadlee series or make the trip early like Hick and Saker.
Cricket Australia has already confirmed Lehmann won't coach the national side during a home Twenty20 series in February, which almost overlaps with the start of the first Test in India.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for us to have ex-players of the calibre of Brad and Ryan on board for this tour and continue their involvement in Australian cricket," coach Darren Lehmann said.
"Both these guys have worked hard on their coaching since leaving the game and thoroughly deserve their opportunity.
"They will bring a great insight to the team."
Harris spent time with the squad during a recent ODI tour of South Africa, while Haddin has previously worked with Australia A.
"Darren and I have always had a great working relationship so to be able to coach alongside him is something I am really looking forward to," Haddin said.
