North Melbourne's 35-year-old veteran of 360 AFL games Brent Harvey will play on in 2014 after signing a new one-year deal on Friday.

The five-time club champion and 1999 premiership player will continue his career into a 19th season.

Harvey missed the first six rounds because of suspension but the club's games record-holder is averaging 23.5 disposals in 14 matches in 2013.

The 172cm, 75kg ex-skipper is less than two full seasons away from joining Hawthorn's Michael Tuck (426) and Richmond's Kevin Bartlett (403) in the 400-games club.

North coach Brad Scott says Harvey has been quizzing him on a weekly basis about his chances of getting a contract for 2014 and Scott had told him his good form was hard to ignore.

"I've certainly made my thoughts clear at list management," Scott said recently.

"How could you argue with his performances so far? He's just an amazing athlete."
