The AFL's exclusive 400 games club could double over the next two years as Brent Harvey and Dustin Fletcher continue their amazing careers.
North Melbourne confirmed on Friday that Harvey had signed another one-year contract, taking the 35-year-old into his 19th season.
Harvey is on 360 games, putting him ninth on the all-time list.
Hawthorn's Michael Tuck (426) and Richmond's Kevin Bartlett (403) are the only players to have passed 400.
Fletcher, 38, could join the pair next season, with the Essendon defender on 378 and also indicating he wants to continue.
Harvey will not hit 400 next year but, if he can maintain his form, he could well go into 2015.
Kangaroos coach Brad Scott made it clear the side was not carrying Harvey and said there were no plans to make the speedy utility their specialist substitute.
"If he keeps playing like he is now, he's too valuable not to have out there for 120 minutes," Scott said.
Harvey took ninth on the all-time games list last weekend when he passed former teammate John Blakey, who played 135 games with Fitzroy and 224 for North.
"I've always been keen for him to play on, but we wanted to wait until pretty late in the season to make an absolute decision on him - just with how he was feeling mentally and physically," Scott said.
"You can't argue with his form. He's been terrific and, mentally, he's as driven as ever - and as driven as any player I've seen.
"Physically, he's in great shape, so it makes it a pretty easy decision."
Scott continues to be amazed at Harvey's ability to play so well in the AFL at the age of 35.
This is the first time in four seasons that Harvey has not managed at least 20 games, but he missed the opening six rounds because of suspension.
"For him - at his age, to be still be playing at the level he is - is remarkable," Scott said.
"Genetically, he's very fortunate, he recovers from injuries really quickly and recovers from training loads really quickly.
"But to say it's just genetics is unfair, because he prepares himself like no one I've seen."
Meanwhile, Scott said North are determined to finish off the season with a flourish when they play Hawthorn and Collingwood.
The 'Roos are outside the top eight after a series of fadeouts and close losses during the season.
But they have beaten Geelong and Essendon in the past three weeks and Scott is determined that they continue that form.
"We'll fight and bite and scratch and do everything we can to get those two wins against two really good sides," Scott said.
"If we'd won our 10 or so games we've lost by under 10 points, we'd be sitting equal with Hawthorn and Geelong.
"My honest opinion is we're not at that level yet and we have a lot to work on, but we're filled with confidence in the direction we're going."
