Manly youngster Manase Fainu is finally set to make his NRL debut after the club announced the immediate departure of unwanted utility Jackson Hastings.
The NRL denied the Sea Eagles an exemption for Fainu to play two weeks ago, forcing coach Trent Barrett to play Matthew Wright at hooker in a loss to St George Illawarra.
However the exit of Hastings will allow Barrett to elevate Fainu into Manly's top 30, paving the way for him to make his first NRL appearance against Penrith after he was named in the No.9 jumper on Tuesday.
Hastings, who has been linked with a move to the Super League, made headlines earlier this year after an altercation with skipper Daly Cherry-Evans during an away trip to Gladstone.
A number of Sea Eagles reportedly told Barrett they refused to play with the 22-year-old.
He has since been banished to reserve grade and has not been seen in the NRL despite injuries to a number of key players, including playmaker Lachlan Croker and hooker Api Koroisau.
"The club and Jackson's management have made the decision mutually," a statement read.
The Sea Eagles also confirmed forward Shaun Lane, who has been linked with a long-term deal at Parramatta, has rejected a three-year deal to remain with the club and will leave at season's end.
Barrett on Tuesday also named Brad Parker to replace the injured Akuila Uate, while star Dylan Walker returns at five-eighth for the benched Trent Hodkinson.
Utility hooker Lewis Brown is also unavailable after he injured his shoulder in reserve grade a fortnight ago.
The Sea Eagles are currently ten points out of the top eight in 14th spot with nine games remaining.
