Star Hawthorn defender Josh Gibson says the three-time defending premiers have not been hungry enough.

Hawthorn star Josh Gibson says Saturday's 75-point humiliation against GWS is a reality check that's been coming for a month.

The thrashing follows three consecutive three-point AFL wins and Gibson said they have not been hungry enough.

But he added the Hawks have a system they believe in and they're a proud group of players who will bounce back.
