Parramatta centre Jarryd Hayne maintained his late-season form surge as he featured in a game-tilting run against his former NRL club Gold Coast.

The Eels improved their chances of avoiding a third wooden spoon in seven years with a 28-12 win at ANZ Stadium on Saturday.

It was the fifth win of the season for Parramatta, who celebrated by giving their revamped club song it's first airing.

They scored just six points after halftime and had captain Tim Mannah sent to sin-bin with 13 minutes to go, but held on as Gold Coast squandered several second half opportunities.

Hayne, who finished 2016 at the Titans and spent 2017 there, played a big role in the Eels' decisive surge late in the first half, as they piled on 16 points in 10 minutes to lead 22-6 at halftime..

He showed great strength and footwork to brush off three defenders to score the Eels second try and his sixth in his last seven game since returning from injury.

Hayne was instrumental in setting up a try for winger Bevan French and the Eels other wide man George Jennings also crossed.

"He (Hayne) has been good, really solid for us, since he's come back,' Parramatta coach Brad Arthur said.

"He's' put seven games together, so that's the key for him, he's got to keep staying on the paddock and getting better."

Strong running forwards Nathan Brown, Peni Terepo and Mannah provided a strong platform with playmakers Corey Nornam and Mitchell Moses making plenty off good decisions.

Norman pounced on his own kick five minutes from fulltime to secure the win.

"I thought we played some really good footy but it was in blocks," Arthur said.

"We've got to try and make those blokes a bit longer and sustain pressure for longer periods."

The Titans butchered plenty of chances to make more inroads into the deficit either side of winger Anthony Don sprinting 90 metres for his second try after intercepting a Mitchell Moses pass.

Fullback Michael Gordon dropped the ball over the line and centre Konrad Hurrell lost the ball just short of the line.

Potential tries to winger Phillip Sami and captain Ryan James were rubbed out for forward passes and halfback AJ Brimson had a clear passage to the line but dropped a pass.

The normally reliable Gordon missed all three of his conversion attempts.

"We were our own worst enemy," Titans' coach Garth Brennan said.

"I think if we were a racehorse there would be a stewards' inquiry after last week's performance compared to this weeks."
