Jarryd Hayne's future at the San Francisco 49ers might be uncertain, but he remains a remarkable NFL merchandise seller.
The NFL Players Association released its list of the 50 players who generate the most sales of officially licensed NFL merchandise.
Former NRL star Hayne came in 43rd, beating many of the sport's established stars including New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers and Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy.
The top seller for the period from March 1, 2015 to February 29, 2016, was New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Quarterbacks also took the next three spots, with recently retired Peyton Manning (Denver Broncos) second, Russell Wilson (Seattle Seahawks) third and Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers) fourth.
The list is different to the NFL.com jersey sales list that, thanks to Hayne's huge Australian fan base that could make purchases online, had the former Parramatta Eel at number five last September.
The NFLPA list covers jerseys and other products, including t-shirts, wall decals, figurines, toys, bobblehead dolls, drinkware, socks and electronic devices sold by more than 80 NFLPA licensees.
While his jersey sales are strong, if Hayne is going to move up the NFLPA list he might have to start marketing bobblehead dolls, socks and other products.
Brady, Odell Beckham Jr (6th), Cam Newton (7th), Rob Gronkowski (8th) and Luke Kuechly (11th) bumped up their numbers with sales of kids' toys and apparel, according to the NFLPA.
Hayne began the 49ers off-season program on April 4 under new coach Chip Kelly and an almost completely overhauled staff of co-ordinators.
Hayne is one of six running backs on the 49ers' books, with speculation the team might add another running back in this week's NFL Draft.
The 49ers could also bolster its ranks at Hayne's other positions, punt and kick returner.
The 49ers will reduce its current off-season squad of about 90 to 53 before the start of the new season in September, with a couple of the running backs expected to be cut.
For Hayne to break into Kelly's 53 he will likely have to prove his utility value at running back and as a punt/kick returner.
