Hayne still on Eels' books: report

Parramatta have reportedly discovered they are still paying former star Jarryd Hayne $50,000 this year, in an anomaly with the club's books.

Jarryd Hayne is reportedly still on Parramatta's books even though the former star left the club at the end of last season to pursue an NFL career in the US.

The Eels are paying the two-time Dally M medallist at least $50,000 this year which doesn't count towards the club's salary cap, according to Fairfax Media, who said the anomaly was uncovered as part of routine reporting.

Hayne was released from the last year of his contract last October to chase his American football dream, and subsequently signed with the San Francisco 49ers.

Parramatta have endured a turbulent time amid the departure of CEO Scott Seward and being fined $525,000 by the NRL for a raft of salary cap breaches last season.
