Health a key focus of Qld climate plan

A new plan to help Queensland's health sector adapt to climate change is proposing tobacco-style taxes on carbon polluters.

Bureaucrats should consider health outcomes when assessing mining, energy and waste projects, according to a plan to help the Queensland government deal with climate change.

Tobacco-style taxes on carbon polluters is also recommended in the proposal, to be released on Tuesday.

The government has produced a range of adaptation plans to help key sectors, including the health industry, adapt to climate change and get to zero net carbon emissions by 2050.
