Health department boss heads to Calvary

Retiring health department boss Martin Bowles will become Calvary Health Care chief executive later this year, taking charge of 15 hospitals across the country.

Retiring federal health department secretary Martin Bowles has been appointed chief executive of Calvary Health Care, a week after announcing he was leaving the public service.

Mr Bowles, who has served in the public sector almost 40 years, is resigning on Friday.

He will take the reins at Calvary on November 1, overseeing 15 public and private Catholic hospitals and a raft of retirement, aged and community care facilities across the country.
