Brumbies winger Henry Speight is facing the likelihood of a suspension and missing the Super Rugby semi-final against the Hurricanes, after a SANZAR judicial hearing found on Tuesday he had contravened a lifting tackle law.
Speight must wait until at least Wednesday before finding out what sanction will be imposed on him, after further information was requested for consideration by judicial officer Robert Stelzner SC.
Twice-capped Wallabies winger Speight was sent off for his tackle on the Stormers Juan de Jongh in the 74th minute of the Super Rugby qualifier in Cape Town last weekend.
He was given a red card for a dangerous tackle on a player without the ball when he appeared to flip the Stormers centre onto his head.
A suspension of any length would rule the 27-year-old Fijian-born winger out of the semi-final.
Several suspensions have been imposed this season for lifting tackles, with players frequently getting at least two weeks.
A punishment of that length would rule Speight out of the final, if the Brumbies beat the Hurricanes in Wellington.
