Heat on Aussie cricketers early in Dubai

Australia's cricketers have launched straight into the midday heat of Dubai as they prepare for the upcoming series against Pakistan.

Australia coach Darren Lehmann joked that he'd ruled himself out of having to make a comeback in the upcoming Twenty20 clash with Pakistan in the UAE.

Things are certainly going to be a little tight in terms of selection, with Nathan Lyon and Phil Hughes on standby for the game in Dubai on Monday morning (AEST).

Three members of new skipper Aaron Finch's Australia T20 side - Cameron Boyce, Glenn Maxwell and Pat Cummins - are still involved in the Champions League T20 tournament in India which reaches the semi-final stage on Thursday.

The final is to be played in Bangalore on Sunday morning (AEST).

"We're waiting for a few blokes to come over from the Champions League," Lehmann told reporters at Dubai's world-class training facilities on Wednesday.

One or possibly two of Finch's men could be in Bangalore instead of Dubai for an event that Cricket Australia confirmed last month would take precedence over the T20 international.

"It's just part and parcel of the world game these days," Lehmann shrugged.

"It could go any way. We don't worry about it.

"We've got enough players to play the game, which is important.

"I don't have to suit up, or anyone else doesn't have to play."

Lehmann took the opportunity to challenge his players with a midday training session in 30-degree heat on Wednesday rather than an evening workout in preparation for a game that's due to start at 8pm local time on Sunday (0300 Monday AEST).

"Heat? Yeah it's hot," Lehmann said.

"The coach is a very hard taskmaster and I like them getting used to the heat.

"It doesn't always go down well.

"It will take the guys a couple of days to get over it all.

"Ice baths and all those sorts of things they do now in the new age, they'll be fine."

In-form allrounder Mitch Marsh has arrived in Dubai after Perth Scorchers' failure to reach the CLT20 semis while Test and one-day skipper Michael Clarke has also landed.

Clarke is battling a hamstring injury and will sit out the one-day international series in a bid to be fit for the four-day game against Pakistan A starting on October 15 in the lead-in to the first Test.
