Henry wants suspended Titans back

Neil Henry says his position hasn't changed and he'd still like to see the five Gold Coast players facing drug charges back in his squad as soon as possible.

Gold Coast coach Neil Henry has reaffirmed his desire to have the five players facing drug charges restored to training and available for NRL action as soon as possible.

Titans chief executive Graham Annesley says the NRL club has no plan to lift the bans on Beau Falloon, Jamie Dowling, Greg Bird, Dave Taylor and Kalifa Faifai Loa after all five have had their initial court appearances.

Falloon and Dowling faced court on Thursday and have had their matters adjourned until May 8 without plea while State of Origin stars Bird and Taylor as well as Faifai Loa are expected to appear on Monday.

But Annesley says briefs given to the board by lawyers are insufficient and the players won't be restored to playing action until the board gets a chance to assess the full evidence against each player.

Henry said on Friday his opinion hasn't changed that the five players should be allowed to return to the field following their day in court.

"We're still going to push ahead for the boys to join us at training and to be available to play, that's my stance on it," Henry said.

"The club is seeking clarification on the charges and that's between the lawyers, the club and the board to have a look at.

"That's standard procedure anyway to get some clarification about what's happening.

"Hopefully after the Monday court case too we'll be able to move forward and hopefully have some players available for round two."

Henry said he hadn't spoken to Falloon or Dowling since Thursday's brief appearance but he intended to do so.

He said the adjournment in their cases was expected and it was no great surprise to either that they'll have to wait until May before they can get back to court.
