Heroin in noodles seized at Sydney Airport

Heroin hidden in noodle packets has been seized during a baggage check at Sydney Airport and a Taiwanese man has been detained.

Customs officers have seized 3.5kg of heroin concealed in noodle packets at Sydney Airport and handed a Taiwanese man over to federal police.

Australian Customs and Border Protection Service officers selected the 41-year-old man for a baggage check on Sunday after he arrived on a flight from Thailand.

In the man's luggage hard blocks concealed in noodle packets were found to contain white powder which tested positive for heroin, Customs said in a statement on Tuesday.

The matter has been referred to Australian Federal Police.
