High-flyers back Aussie women's Ashes tilt

Several prominent Australian women have taken part in a video to support the national women's cricket team's quest to retain the Ashes.

What do Olympics legend Cathy Freeman and the first female member of The Wiggles, Emma Watkins, have in common?

Both are among a group of successful women backing the Australian women's cricket team's mission to retain the Ashes.

The eclectic group, which also includes solo sailor Jessica Watson and media identity Ita Buttrose, have featured in a video stating something they have beaten ahead of Australia confronting world No 1. England on Sunday.

"I beat the pressure," Freeman said in the video from Cricket Australia.

"I beat those who said I dreamt impossible dreams," Buttrose said.

England are considered Ashes favourites after their victory at the World Cup in July, at which Australia suffered a semi-final loss to India.

Australia's preparations have been disrupted this week by rain in Brisbane, where the Ashes opener will be held with a sell-out crowd at Allan Border Field.

The women's Ashes will be decided on a points system across one four-day Test, three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 matches, concluding in November.
