High level meetings are being held in Canberra to tackle suicide rates in indigenous communities.

Federal government ministers, indigenous leaders and mental health experts will hold roundtable discussions on Wednesday on national approaches to addressing indigenous mental health.

Suicide rates for indigenous people are twice that of non-indigenous people in the same areas, Health Minister Sussan Ley says.
