Highlanders add seven new faces to pack

The Highlanders have made seven new signings in the forwards as they look to bolster their set piece for the 2015 Super Rugby season.

The Highlanders have signed seven new players to reinforce their forward pack in the 2015 Super Rugby competition.

Four of them are props in Josh Hohneck (Waikato), Brendon Edmonds (Hawke's Bay), Ross Geldenhuys (Tasman) and Pingi Tala'apitaga (Bay of Plenty).

They are joined by Hawke's Bay hooker Ash Dixon, Wellington lock Mark Reddish and Northland loose forward Dan Pryor.

Coach Jamie Joseph says one lesson from the 2014 season was the pressure that the Highlanders' set piece came under during the latter stages of the competition.

"We have selected players with that in mind and who we think can improve our team in that area," he said.

Hohneck has spent the past three seasons with the Chiefs, and Edmonds, Dixon and Reddish are joining from the Hurricanes, while Pryor had one game for the Blues in 2012.

Geldenhuys has played for Eastern Province in South Africa's Currie Cup.

General manager Roger Clark said the Highlanders still have a few positions to fill and those would be finalised over the rest of the national provincial championship.
