Hikers use phone app to return to safety

A couple who were lost during a hike in the NSW Tallaganda State Forest have been found after using an emergency app on their smartphone.

A couple who got lost during a hike in southern NSW have used a smartphone app to help emergency services find them.

A 57-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman were hiking in Tallaganda State Forest near Queanbeyan on Saturday when they became lost and called 000, police say.

The couple used the `Emergency +' application on their smartphone to help police pinpoint their exact location and were found on Sunday morning thanks to the co-ordinates.
