Essendon coach James Hird has hit out at the latest media leak on the AFL club's supplements saga, saying reputable bodies should behave better.
Hird stopped short of blaming anyone for the leak, but he and the Bombers have had plenty of run-ins throughout the saga with the AFL and anti-doping authorities.
This week, media outlets reported that WADA will allege two samples from Essendon players showed abnormal levels of the substance thymosin beta-4.
WADA are appealing against an AFL anti-doping tribunal verdict earlier this year that cleared 34 current and past Essendon players of taking the substance.
"It's confidential information and it shouldn't leak out of organisations like ... reputable organisations that it's leaked out from," Hird said before Friday training.
"It shouldn't happen.
"I don't know where it came from, but I'd be very disappointed if it came from this football club and you doubt that.
"There are probably only a handful of other people or organisations who have the information."
Hird also wondered whether there was any point to evidence or interviews in anti-doping investigations being kept confidential.
"They (players) are just disappointed that through the whole process, from the ASADA interviews, this information seems to get its way into the public forum," he said.
"In the end, maybe you just have it all open.
"It seems to be that private information doesn't seem to stay private."
The WADA appeal appears set to proceed in Sydney this November.
