Essendon coach James Hird will learn on Friday the outcome in his battle against the joint ASADA-AFL probe.

Justice Susan Kenny will deliver the judgment at 2.15pm (AEDT) on Friday on behalf of the full bench of the Federal Court.

Hird broke ranks with his club when he challenged a Federal Court judge's decision to deem the joint Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority and AFL investigation into Essendon's supplements program legal.

He argued ASADA illegally recruited the AFL to take advantage of the league's coercive powers, but ASADA maintains it acted lawfully.
