A collection of rare historic cricket books is expected to hit a six-figure sum when it is sold in the UK.
Among the lots offered for auction at Christie's are two copies of the rare 1869 edition of Wisden which are valued at STG15,000 ($A27,380) each and scorebooks dating back to 1800 which are expected to fetch STG25,000 each.
Also going under the hammer is one of the few surviving copies of the first cricket instruction manual. The book, by Thomas Boxall, dates to the early 1800s and is valued at STG15,000.
Another of the items up for sale is a Christmas card from cartoonist Willie Rushton, who founded the satirical magazine Private Eye, entitled `The Australian Touring Side Of 18', which includes a sketch of a team with balls and chains on their ankles.
They are included in the Sporting Books sale at the South Kensington branch of the auction house on November 5.
