Supporters of marriage equality, including politicians and local personalities, will stage a rally in Hobart.

Saturday's event aims to show community support for marriage equality, including a Liberal free vote on the issue, organiser Rodney Croome says.

"The rally comes just days before the first ever cross-party marriage equality bill, co-sponsored by Tasmanian MP Andrew Wilkie, is due to be introduced into parliament," he said.

"The message from the rally will be that `together we can do this'."

Labor senators Carol Brown and Lisa Singh and Greens senator-elect Nick McKim will be at the rally, along with Aria award-winning singer-songwriter Monique Brumby.

It will be held at Hobart's City Hall from 12.30pm.
