Hockey happy people "having a go"

Opinion polls are improving for the Abbott government, but Joe Hockey is just happy that people are taking advantage of a key element of his budget.

Treasurer Joe Hockey is happier that Australians are prepared to "have a go" than he is about the post-budget opinion polls which show a boost for the government.

"That's what lifts my spirits - when everywhere I go people are saying they are going to buy that bit of equipment for their business," Mr Hockey told 2GB radio.

Voters have given Mr Hockey's second budget the thumbs-up, especially the tax concessions for small business.
